Feyfinders: Cosmos
Cover art and character design for the Dungeons and Dragons actual play podcast, “Feyfinders.”
The five Cosmos characters are in a central formation in front of a purple outer space background with floating planets that look like 20-sided dice. The face of the dungeon master stares at the viewer from the top left with a devious expression. Text at the bottom reads “Feyfinders: Cosmos” in a bold sci-fi font.
Final podcast cover art.
Full-body view of the five Cosmos characters in a lineup.
Character lineup. The crew had such chaotic energy that my biggest challenge was making them feel like a unified team. At the client's request, I kept all their outfits in the same colour palette to help with this challenge.
On the left, several sketches of Gromley in different poses. On the right, final coloured art of Gromley looking worried, casting a spell from his floating spellbook.
Gromley is the harried goblin wizard of the team, with a sentient (and snarky) spell book as his familiar.
On the left, several sketches of Skor in different poses with various large swords. On the right, final coloured art of Skor leaning on a massive sword wreathed in green flames.
Skor is the flirtatious and showy fighter. My instructions for his magical sword were "as extra as you can make it."
On the left, a few sketches on Signal standing nervously next to his drake. On the right, final coloured art of Signal with a hand on his massive blue drake’s head.
Signal is the shy former soldier with an emotional support dragon (well, drake).
On the left, several sketches of Zahra holding guns in different confident poses, with several outfit variations. On the right, final coloured art of Zahra holding a rifle over one shoulder and a handgun in her other hand, staring confidently ahead.
Zahra is the confident and classy gunslinger. I was given the least direction for her outfit, so had lots of fun exploring different options.
On the left, several sketches of John in similar tourist-dad poses. On the right, final coloured art of John wearing a fanny pack and crocs and holding both thumbs up.
John Schmidt is a dad and retired cop. Mostly a dad.
